Per fumare

Per fumare 2025
Continuous diffusion of aromatic mist
180 x 160 cm (HxØ)
Karola Braga, in “Per fumare” (through smoke), reinscribes the ancestral gesture of perfuming oneself as a speculative ritual. Through a gilded sculpture that exhales historical fragrances — myrrh, sandalwood, cedar — enveloped in subtle mists, the artist invites the audience to an intimate act: to adorn oneself through smoke. Here, perfume becomes memory in suspension, the invisible trace of a body that once was. The installation brings forth the spiritual and relational dimension of scent, evoking practices of purification, elevation, and presence — a form of adornment that does not cling, but passes through.
